Frequently Asked Questions
A power lift chair uses an electric motor to tilt the entire seat forward and upward, assisting the user to a near-standing position. The same mechanism reclines the chair to various positions — some chairs go fully flat for sleeping. A wired or wireless remote controls all functions. The mechanism is quiet, smooth, and requires only a standard electrical outlet.
The lift mechanism portion may be partially covered by Medicare Part B when a physician certifies it is medically necessary for a qualifying condition affecting the ability to stand. Medicare covers the lift mechanism only — not the chair itself. Coverage typically requires using a Medicare-enrolled durable medical equipment supplier.
Heat and massage can provide meaningful comfort for chronic pain. Infinite position recline allows customized angles for back and leg comfort. A side pocket keeps the remote accessible. Wall-hugger designs extend in a forward direction, allowing the chair to sit closer to the wall without needing clearance behind it.
Seat width should allow you to sit comfortably with a few inches on each side. Seat height should allow your feet to rest flat on the floor with hips and knees at 90 degrees. Weight capacity should significantly exceed your current weight for long-term reliability. Most manufacturers offer petite, standard, and tall/wide configurations.
